The project was an experimental QR code designed to display a unique, personalized outcome for each person who scanned it. Rather than linking to a static page, the code generated a distinct visual or textual response based on the scanner's device, location, or time.
Development halted when the team realized the underlying algorithm relied on proprietary APIs that became unavailable after a service shutdown. Additionally, maintaining the individualized outputs required resources that exceeded the project's modest budget.
Had the technical barriers been overcome, the QR code could have evolved into a participatory artwork that invited viewers to reflect on how context shapes perception. It might have been deployed in galleries worldwide, creating a distributed, ever‑changing portrait of the audience.
